Red Sea Salt 7kg
Red Sea Salt is designed to provide the exact parameters of tropical reef water with a slightly elevated alkalinity as needed in a closed marine system. Red Sea salt is ideal for fish and invertebrate systems, mature or low-nutrient SPS tanks. The choice of salt formula is the most fundamental issue in the success of any marine or coral reef aquarium. Unlike vertebrates or higher animals, that obtain the elements necessary for growth from their food, marine organisms such as invertebrates absorb their essential elements from the water that surrounds them and therefore the availability of the elements and the quality of the water is essential. Research has identified approximately 70 major, minor and trace elements in natural seawater, most of which play some role in the biology of marine organisms. For anyone considering keeping a coral reef aquarium, artificial reef-salt should not be considered a commodity product. The differences in performance of the various commercially available salts are due to the raw materials, the formulation, the production process and the quality control. The quality of raw materials has a direct impact on the health and appearance of aquarium inhabitants.

What has changed in the new Red Sea Salt formula? The original Red Sea salt was first formulated 20 years ago and has remained the same until now. At that time most hobbyists were using filtered tap water that already had calcium, magnesium and carbonates depending on the hardness of the water. The original Red Sea Salt was formulated to reproduce the parameters of natural seawater after taking into account an average hardness (mineral content) of the tap water. Mixing the original Red Sea Salt with RO or soft tap water would give lower than natural levels of calcium, magnesium and alkalinity. The new Red Sea Salt formula is based on using RO water and therefore has higher levels of these elements.
